1988 Volvo 740 GLE. My sister had one with this interior when I was in middle school. It was awesome, my grand parents replaced it with a later model Pontiac Sunfire, as a gift. More like a curse.
One this it had that most Volvos dont is the headrest pillows. They were so soft.

Counter counter point. In 2022 I’m importing a Toyota century specifically with leather interior.

Well actually no. The 1GZ was introduced in 1998 which was the same year they started putting leather in the Century. Before that it was a 4.0L 5V-FE 8 cylinder.

Counter point: Leather sucks. It’s always too hot or too cold. Your stuff slides around on it if you put things on the seat. It stains, tears, cracks, and discolors easily. And is heinously expensive to replace.
Cloth is superior is every aspect. And you can get it in plaid.
Plaid cloth seats > everything else.

I used to have an ES250 with cloth, and I’ve seen an early 90s LS400 with (red!) cloth interior.
Most BMW’s and Mercedes, even many of the high-end models, come with vinyl seats.

Wrong. Bad leather sucks. Both of my cars with nice leather have zero wear whatsoever. Also, it’s ver easy to clean. About a week after I got my S600, I picked up a bag of garbage someone had thrown in my driveway to put in the can at the top of the hill. Lo and behold, it was full of old oysters and the associated grease. The fluid proceeded to get all over my seat but it took me about a minute to clean it. It would have ruined the seat if it was cloth.
Full of the sound of the Gran Fury, signifying nothing.

For obvious reasons, check cars sold in the Indian domestic market. I’d be willing to bet you’ll find a few over there.

S-class up to W140 could be ordered with a woolcloth velour that was made for decades This was phased out by the late 90s, I think:
There was also the possibility of busy cloth upholstery:
Back in W126 days, this was more common. Cloth:
Velour:

Who carries baby food with them with the intention of dumping on people’s seats!?
Also, seats have been treated with stain prevention. I make you clean up your mess under threat of violence and police notification.

Some of the very first ones sold in Murka had cloth standard. I have seen one (and no more).

No sunroof either. Neighbor had one.
1st gen GS also had cloth seats, as did the IS300.

Yep. Pretty cool in a way. I think these base ones had a sticker of something like 35K, and for that you got cloth and no sunroof. I have to imagine those were under 1% of sales volume. There was a nice one for sale locally a few years ago for something like 5K.

Not a luxury car but these are some of the most overstuffed comfy cloth seats ever. And cloth all over the door cards and other interior surfaces! And one of the coolest dashboards GM ever put into an economy appliance!
